On 2 February, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Mélanie Joly in Kyiv.

The Head of Ukrainian Government thanked Canada for its decision to join the coalition for the return of deported Ukrainian children. This is one of the points of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula.

“Canada also supports our humanitarian demining initiatives, which are an important part of recovery. In this context, we need to find a solution to the confiscation of russian assets. Canada is among the leaders here, as in other areas of support. We expect to take significant steps this year to channel russian funds into Ukraine’s reconstruction,” said Denys Shmyhal.

For her part, Mélanie Joly assured that Canada would stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes.
