Denys Shmyhal took part in the largest educational festival “Teachers of the Future”
The Government continues systemic reforms and educational transformations to provide Ukrainian children with opportunities for self-realization in the face of rapid changes in the modern world. This was emphasized by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during the Teachers of the Future educational festival held on June 19, in Lviv. The largest educational festival, which brought together more than 2,500 participants from both Ukraine and Europe, was also attended by Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, representatives of the Parliament, public figures and educators.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized that the primary task is to provide children with safe and quality education. And the Government is systematically working in this direction. In particular, schools-shelters are being built. A total of UAH 6.2 billion will be invested in the construction of school shelters this year. Positions of educational security officers are also being created, and the school transport fleet is being updated - more than 400 buses annually. Free meals in schools have been introduced.
"This is all part of our School Offline program. Already 164,000 pupils have returned to classes, in general, we are striving to return about 300,000 children to the full-time format of education," the Prime Minister said.
According to Denys Shmyhal, the Government's objective is to provide children with a future-oriented education as well.
"The world is changing rapidly, new professions are emerging, others are disappearing. Schools should prepare students for challenges so that each of them can find their place in the labor market," he emphasized.
That is why the Government continues to reform the NUS, builds a system of modern laboratories, for which UAH 3.4 billion will be allocated in 2025, and modernizes vocational school workshops.
Another important aspect of educational reforms, Denys Shmyhal said, is the motivation of teachers.
"In 2025, at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, teachers' salaries have improved. Since the beginning of the year, teachers have been receiving an additional payment of UAH 1,000 “on hand”. From September, the supplement will increase to UAH 2,000," the Prime Minister said.
He thanked all Ukrainian teachers for their tireless work.
"For the fourth year of the full-scale war, you have been not only teaching students, but also giving them a part of your soul, inspiring and motivating them. You are making a great contribution to the future of the state," emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
