Thanks to investments from the state and the private sector, the capabilities of the Ukrainian defence industry have increased sixfold. This was emphasised by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 31 December.

Presenting the results of the Government's activities in 2024, he noted that more than half of the state budget expenditures were allocated to defence this year: "Literally every hryvnia raised domestically."

According to Denys Shmyhal, more than 800 state-owned and private companies operate in the defence sector. In addition, more than a thousand pieces of weapons and equipment have been approved for use, and half of them are Ukrainian-made.

"In the drone segment, domestic products account for over 96%. More than 1.2 million drones have been purchased through the Army of Drones project. Ukraine produces more self-propelled artillery systems than any other country in the free world. The missile programme has made significant progress. Ukrainian long-range weapons have been created," the Prime Minister stressed.

He also highlighted the successful work of the so-called ‘Danish Model’, when partners purchase weapons for Ukraine from Ukrainian enterprises. In particular, it has already helped to raise almost USD 1 billion.
