Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online conversation with Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo. The parties discussed support for Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, strengthening sanctions against russia, confiscation of russian assets and assistance in the reconstruction process.
“Throughout these months of full-scale war, Ukraine has felt the incredible solidarity of the people and government of Finland. I am grateful for your personal leadership and contribution to shaping Finland’s strong support for Ukraine. We look forward to our continued close cooperation,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked for the significant assistance in getting through the winter. He noted that Finland had provided the largest amount of energy equipment among European countries.
The Head of Ukrainian Government expressed his hope that Finland would also become a key partner in the reconstruction and transformation of Ukraine. Denys Shmyhal proposed to establish direct communication between the governments on this issue in order to develop a plan for Finland’s participation in Ukraine’s recovery together with the private sector.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked the Finnish partners for their systematic support of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, as well as for Finland’s readiness to create the necessary conditions for the channelling of russian confiscated assets to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
For his part, the Prime Minister of Finland noted that his government would continue to support Ukraine, in particular to help in the reconstruction of the country and to consistently maintain the sanctions policy against the aggressor.
