Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 12 October 2026 10:21

This week, Chernihiv region has received a new batch of generators provided under the Latvian Government's assistance programme. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

"This year alone, the Latvian government has provided the Chernihiv Oblast with 30 generators ranging in power from 80 to 650 kW, and the arrival of another 30 generators is expected soon. This is a significant contribution to bolstering the energy resilience of this frontline region ahead of winter," he stressed.

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received over 900 tonnes of energy equipment from Latvian donors. Power transformers and current transformers, surge arresters and insulators, tractors with drilling rigs, and wireless routers are all helping Ukrainian energy workers restore energy facilities faster after Russian attacks.

The Minister of Energy also noted Latvia's EUR 600,000 contribution to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine.

One of the priority areas of cooperation is the supply of equipment from power plants decommissioned in Latvia. This equipment is vital for repair and recovery work at Ukrainian energy facilities.

"We deeply appreciate the support of our Latvian friends. Thank you for helping Ukraine keep the lights on!" said the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy.
