Denys Shmyhal: In 2023, USD 14 billion will be required for rapid recovery projects

On 12 April, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal took part in the Third  Ministerial Roundtable Discussion for Support to Ukraine, which is part of the the World Bank Group - IMF Spring Meetings 2023.

The event was opened with an online speech by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"In order for people to return to Ukraine, for the aggressor to lose not only on the battlefield, but literally in everything, we need to approve a support programme to cover priority rapid recovery projects," the Head of State stressed.

For his part, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal emphasised that Ukraine's recovery was starting now and the Government would not wait for the end of the war.

"In 2023, USD 14 billion is needed for rapid reconstruction projects. We are negotiating with partners to raise all the necessary funds this summer. Thus, we will be able to fulfil all the tasks in the five priority areas of recovery," the Head of the Ukrainian Government said.

Moreover, Denys Shmyhal stated that long-term support from international partners in the amount of USD 115 billion would not only ensure financial stability in Ukraine, but also sent a clear message to russia that Ukraine's allies would support us as long as necessary.
