Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Minister of Health Viktor Liashko inspected the damaged buildings and premises of the Okhmatdyt hospital destroyed by russians.

The toxicology building was destroyed as a result of a direct missile hit on the hospital. Five buildings were damaged, including the surgical ward. The country’s only onco-haematology laboratory was also partially damaged.

“Work is already underway to assess the damage to the equipment and clean the premises and departments to start returning patients where possible,” the Head of Government noted.

At present, electricity, water supply and ventilation have been restored.

“I am grateful to the power engineers who promptly delivered backup equipment. I thank Health Minister Viktor Liashko and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko for their efforts,” said Denys Shmyhal, adding that the Minister of Health would personally coordinate the process.

The Government has already allocated UAH 100 million for the priority restoration work and will allocate another UAH 300 million if necessary. In addition, thanks to people concerned, UAH 250 million has been raised through the United24 platform. Another UAH 132 million has been transferred to the hospital’s charity account, UAH 280 million has been donated to the Okhmatdyt Charitable Foundation, and EUR 1 million has been allocated by the Government of Lithuania.

“We thank Ukrainians, businesses, and partners for their prompt response to the allocation of funds. We will need them all to restore the buildings and purchase equipment. Ukrainians have once again shown cohesion and unity. Together we will stand and rebuild everything,” Denys Shmyhal said.
