On 19 February, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal had a meeting in Tokyo with the Japan-Ukraine Interparliamentary Friendship Group, which was attended by representatives of most groups in the Japanese parliament.
According to the Head of Ukrainian Government, the meeting demonstrated that the Japanese parliament is united in its support for Ukraine.
“On this day, 10 years ago, the russian occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol began. Today there are heavy battles in the east of Ukraine. Ukraine is fighting. I am grateful for the financial assistance, for the transfer of non-lethal defence equipment that helps save lives at the front, as well as for humanitarian initiatives,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister said that an important issue for both countries was the strengthening of cooperation in reconstruction.
The Prime Minister thanked the representatives of the Japanese legislature and the entire Japanese people for the high level of support and assistance.
