Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online conversation with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Acting U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery Richard Verma.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government informed the American side about the damage to civilian infrastructure as a result of russia’s most massive air attack.
“The enemy targeted the energy sector. Power engineers are doing everything to restore electricity supply to the homes of Ukrainians,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister stressed that financial assistance from the United States was extremely important for Ukraine. Part of it is support for the energy sector. According to him, Ukraine is currently preparing for a difficult heating season, so it needs more equipment from partners to build a decentralised energy system. The Prime Minister outlined the urgent needs.
Denys Shmyhal also stressed the importance of complete confiscation of the frozen assets of the russian federation and channelling resources to support Ukraine.
“We urge our partners to accelerate their work in this regard. We count on the support of the United States,” the Prime Minister said.
The parties also discussed long-term projects and war risk insurance. Ukraine and the United States continue to work together in these areas.
Denys Shmyhal thanked the U.S. Presidential Administration and the U.S. Government for their contribution to strengthening Ukraine.
