Energy, housing, critical and social infrastructure, and humanitarian demining remain the priority areas of Ukraine's recovery programme. This was emphasised by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 31 December.
He noted that despite numerous russian attacks on the energy sector, the state had managed to preserve the integrity of the system.
"The Ukraine Energy Support Fund has attracted more than EUR 1 billion in contributions from partners. We use these funds to buy equipment and return light and heat to people's homes. We have expanded the capacity to import electricity from Europe from 1.7 GW to 2.1 GW. This helps to balance the power system,’ the Prime Minister stressed and added that the Government had introduced an energy support package for citizens and businesses.
The Head of Government also said that in 2024, 155 schools and 124 medical institutions had been restored, and 640 infrastructure projects had been implemented.
"Under the eVidnovlennia programme, over 46,000 families have received UAH 4.7 billion for damaged and destroyed housing this year. We have also issued housing certificates for UAH 4.4 billion to another 2,800 families," the Prime Minister said.
Also, Denys Shmyhal highlighted the successes in humanitarian demining: "More than 315,000 hectares of potentially mined agricultural land have been inspected, and more than 265,000 hectares have been returned to use."
