The main task of the Government this year in the development of irrigation systems is to launch pilot projects in three regions of Ukraine. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized during a meeting to discuss the land irrigation project, which took place under his chairmanship on April 8.

The discussion gathered together the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Roman Leshchenko, representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Finance, the head of Mykolayiv Regional State Administration Vitalii Kim, the head of Odesa Regional State Administration Serhii Hrynevetsky and acting head of Kherson Regional State Administration Serhii Kozyr.

"The launch of pilot land irrigation projects this year is part of the Government's Irrigation and Drainage Strategy of Ukraine until 2030 and the task of the President. We bring this issue to the state level so that both producers and investors understand that this is a key vector of development for Ukraine," the Head of Government stressed.

The Prime Minister added that it is crucial to determine the facilities that will be modernized within the pilot land irrigation projects and attract investment funds for their implementation. In particular, as Denys Shmyhal noted, there is already an arrangement with international partners on the possibility of attracting credit resources for the development of irrigation systems in Ukraine.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister heard the visions of the heads of regional state administrations on the land irrigation project. The RSA heads reported on the state of reclamation infrastructure in their regions, told about the measures taken to implement the strategy and suggested facilities for possible implementation of pilot projects.
