The only civilized way to get decent pensions is to introduce a second tier of the funded pension system. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in an interview with LB.ua.

The Head of Government stressed that this is an extremely important moment in Ukraine's development.

"If the second level of the pension system had been introduced 15 years ago, we would have accumulated $40-50 billion now. This is long money, long investments that pension funds can invest in the domestic economy. This is a different economic outlook of the state. Plus, today it is an estimated twofold amount of pension compared to the one that exists now. In other words, this is what we have to do in order to have a decent pension in 10-15 years," Denys Shmyhal stressed.

The Prime Minister noted that today this issue is being worked on with the Verkhovna Rada Committee, the Parliament and the Ministry of Finance.
