  • Industrial visa-free regime: The second phase of the preliminary EU assessment mission to prepare for the signing of the Agreement has started

    On September 20, 2021, the second phase of the preliminary EU assessment mission on the readiness of Ukraine's quality infrastructure institutions to operate under updated legislation based on European norms and rules began. Its successful completion opens the way to the next step – Assessment Mission which precedes the conclusion of the ACAA (Agreements on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Goods).

    On September 30, the evaluation of the standardization system by European experts and the first stage of the evaluation of the metrology system of Ukraine were completed. European experts assessed the formation and implementation of the state policy of the Ministry of Economy in the field of standardization and metrology, as well as the activities of the national standardization authority, technical standardization committees, business participating in European technical committees and operating in 3 priority industrial production sectors.

    "The conclusion of the ACAA Agreement will promote the growth of competitiveness and innovativeness of Ukrainian industrial products in both domestic and foreign markets; attracting investments, as well as obtaining by the consumer of quality and safe products produced with use of modern technologies ", said First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Volodymyr Hryniuk.

    The experts focused on the issue of involving business in the process of developing priority standards for producers and necessary to ensure the life and health of the population. The active participation of Ukraine in European and international organizations on standardization and metrology is emphasized as an important factor to ensure the recognition of the national quality infrastructure of Ukraine at the European and international levels.

    European experts also noted the importance of digitalization in standardization processes, in particular, welcomed the launch of a pilot project to attract artificial intelligence and digital technologies to Ukraine's standardization system, as well as the functioning of a communication platform on technical regulation in Ukraine to maintain an effective transparent dialog and to give qualified answers to the most pressing questions of businesses.
