The Cabinet of Ministers at its session on November 2 approved two draft laws regarding the distribution of powers of local self-government bodies in connection with the change of the administrative-territorial structure.
"Decentralization reform continues. We are transferring even more powers and opportunities to regions related to culture, tourism, ecology, education, health and safety. Duplication of powers of local authorities of different levels is eliminated. Local authorities will determine the structure of their executive units," said Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of Government stressed that the endorsed documents are important for increasing the independence and self-sufficiency of all communities. According to the PM, effective cooperation and honest dialogue have been established between the central and local authorities, which allows the country to move forward faster.
