Due to the adopted governmental decisions Ukraine will attract another USD 500 million from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a CMU session.
“This is part of a large project to support public spending to ensure sustainable public administration. The funds will be used to support the poor, IDPs, salaries for teachers and doctors,” the Head of Government noted.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Ukraine garners a strong financial assistance, in particular from the United States and the European Union. Thus, the European Parliament this week approved the allocation of macrofinance for Ukraine worth EUR 18 billion for 2023. The United States has also recently disbursed USD 4.5 billion in direct budget support grants.
In addition, the Government of Canada issued five-year Ukraine sovereignty bonds to the tune of CAD 500 million. Their implementation will help Ukraine to finance priority expenditures, particularly to cover social needs.
