During a working trip to Kherson region on September 10, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal got acquainted with the activities of the State Institution "Kherson Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine". Together with the Head of the Government, the institution was visited by Deputy Minister of Health-Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko and Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Yurii Gusev.
The Prime Minister visited the laboratory for the detection of especially dangerous infections, where he had the opportunity to personally get acquainted with the procedure for detection of COVID-19. The Head of Government noted that this allows to better understand the needs of the laboratory in additional equipment to improve the capacity of the public institution and to increase the number of tests.
Apart from that, Denys Shmyhal noted that the laboratory works at a high level and has an effective approach to the rapid detection of infected patients. The PM added that the Kherson regional laboratory center is one of the best in Ukraine.
"A well-functioning laboratory allows to make timely decisions and quickly detect infected patients. I praise your approach to rapid patient detection and rapid localization. This yields result because Kherson region is a leader in the fight against COVID-19, " the Prime Minister stressed.
According to the acting Director of the state institution Olexandr Hondus, the increase in the capacity of the laboratory center is the result of the Government's support in updating the material and technical base of the laboratory, which allowed to increase the number of PCR tests from 70 to 500 per day.
