During his working trip to Dnipropetrovsk region, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal got familiarized with the construction of a section of the road of the southern bypass of the city of Dnipro.
The project is implemented within the program of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The site is to become part of the M-30 Stryy-Izvaryne highway, which will connect western and eastern Ukraine.
The construction of the second stage of the southern bypass of Dnipro city will increase the capacity of roads to redirect a significant part of transit traffic outside the city, as well as help improve traffic safety and improve the environmental situation.
"Dnipro is one of the few major cities in Ukraine that still does not have a bypass highway. Seven national routes pass through Dnipro, which creates a significant load on the city’s transport system and significantly harms the environment," the Prime Minister said.
Denys Shmyhal stressed that the commissioning of the southern bypass will improve the environmental and logistical situation in the city.
"It is expected that the number of harmful emissions into the air will be reduced by 35-40%, and the number of accidents will be cut twofold. In addition, the bypass will significantly improve the quality of transport services and will have a positive impact on the development of the country's logistics system," stressed the Head of Government.
