The Prime Minister stressed this during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on August 19. Denys Shmyhal accentuated that the essential objective for the Government and local authorities in the coming weeks is to prepare well for the school year.

“We have carried out all traditional and standard preparatory activities for the organization of the educational process. But today we need to talk about the peculiarities of the educational process during the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, I immediately want to instruct the heads of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science: before and after September 1 to inspect schools and kindergartens for compliance with safe learning conditions during the quarantine period," said the Prime Minister.

Denys Shmyhal emphasized it is critical to maintain constant communication with local authorities and parents in this matter.

"It is important to explain where and what kinds of threats exist. Where there are problems, we should help. And by September 1, everything should be ready. Otherwise, we will take radical personnel decisions. The safety of children and teachers is a top priority this school year," said the Prime Minister.

Moreover, the Head of Government called on local authorities to pay more attention to the organization of the educational process, if necessary, to set up commissions and monitor the observance of epidemiological safety measures in educational institutions.
