MES delegation is in Dubai to participate in the RewirEd Summit

From 12 to 14 December 2021, a delegation of the Ministry of Education and Science headed by Secretary of State Serhii Zakharin will be visiting Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to participate in the RewirEd Summit – a global summit of education - as part of the Expo 2020 Dubai Knowledge and Training Week.

The event gathered together representatives of education, politicians, scholars, youth, private sector representatives from more than 60 countries, as well as key representatives of international organizations and foundations.

The following issues are being discussed at this year's Summit:

  • Youth, Skills and Future of Work;
  • Innovations in Education;
  • Education Financing.

The MES delegation together with foreign partners discusses the issues of deepening cooperation by providing expert and consulting assistance in the implementation of MES initiatives to reform the education system in Ukraine.

The participants of the event considered the priority tasks of the Ministry of Education and Science. In particular:

  • implementation of systemic reforms in the field of preschool and general secondary education;
  • organization of measures taken in Ukraine to reduce the negative impact of COVID-19 on the quality of education due to quarantine restrictions.

Serhii Zakharin acquainted the participants with the basic principles of implementing inclusive education and the New Ukrainian School project, which are among the Government's priorities. The State Secretary stressed the need to continue and improve the procedure for certification of new teachers in order to improve the level of professionalism. He also shared the experience of introducing an online tool of the national electronic platform An All-Ukrainian School Online in 2020.

The MES delegation took part in the planned sessions and held working meetings with foreign partners to identify prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of education policy and exchange of experience in providing expert assistance aimed to implement reforms in Ukraine's education sector.

It should be recalled that the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Ukraine Ms. Päivi Laine.
