Special commissions will deal with school safety, says Serhii Shkarlet

The new school year should begin in safe schools, said the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet during a telethon. He noted that the security issue is complex, it is solved by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service, as well as other organizations and structures.

"The Ministry of Education and Science, together with the heads of regional departments of education and science, local communities, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service, will comprehensively form a security system to restore the educational process. We all need socialization and call for full-time education, if possible," said Serhii Shkarlet.

Special commissions set up locally will deal with the security of schools. All schools in Ukraine should become a safe area for students and employees.

"A decision has been made to form special commissions within the Military Civil Administrations, which will be headed by line deputy heads of military administrations. The SES will definitely be involved," the Minister said.

Serhii Shkarlet stressed that the main task is to ensure the safety of participants in the educational process in schools: strengthening the security of institutions, creating safety passports, using special equipment to sound the alarm, as well as conducting educational and training classes for students.
