  • Arsen Avakov to international observers: Russia uses all possible hybrid tools in order to discredit Ukrainian elections

    On April 21, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov met with foreign experts, observers from the National Democratic Institute, the  OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the US Embassy in Ukraine, the  Ukrainian World Congress International Observation Mission to Ukraine's and the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America.

    The meeting participants discussed the process of securing public order during the second round of the presidential elections in Ukraine.

    "We are monitoring the situation from the very morning. Today is calmer than during the first round. Preventive measures yielded result. We respect the choice of the Ukrainian people and will do everything to ensure security", Arsen Avakov said.

    The Minister added that during three days there is a record number of false bomb threats involving major government facilities and attacks on our systems with VPN addresses from the US, Hong Kong and China, but in fact, these attacks were made from Russia.

    "We have prepared for such a situation by taking into account all possible hybrid tools used by the Russian Federation. Two terrorist groups that had ties to the Russian Federation were detected. Our cyber police performed a good job, so the enemy has no access to our system and it stopped the attacks",Arsen Avakov underlined.

    The Minister underlined that 133,000 law enforcement officers were involved in securing the public order.
