The All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Coronavirus: Challenges and Responses" will take place through February 8-10. The three-day event will be a platform for dialogue on the pandemic and overcoming its effects. The event will gather together President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, representatives of the Government, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the support of the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Forum’s participants will discuss the Government's plans for 2021 on curbing the pandemic: measures and ways to restore the economy, help vulnerable groups, adapt education, cooperate with international financial organizations.
"Immunization of the population with a safe and effective vaccine against coronavirus is a key component of the Government's strategy to overcome COVID-19. We have a clear action plan for vaccination, which will begin in February, and are preparing the necessary logistics infrastructure. Ukraine will receive Pfizer/BioNTech EU-supported COVAX initiative, which confirms the unity of all European countries in overcoming COVID-19," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Given the global pandemic, top representatives of the European Union as strategic partners of Ukraine in this matter will join the Forum. The participants of the event will consider a joint action plan for vaccination, share international experience in the fight against COVID-19 and the experience of its implementation in Ukraine, as well as talk about the prospects for opening the borders of countries.
"Overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic has long been a matter of geopolitics and has become way beyond medicine. This is a matter of national security of Ukraine. We have the support of the European Union and other international partners. In particular, within the framework of the COVAX initiative," commented Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.
During the Forum, the terms and conditions of vaccination will be outlined: when it will start, which vaccines will be presented in Ukraine and what quality control they have undergone.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has become a real trial, medical systems in many countries around the world have failed this test. However, thanks to the strategy of the Ministry of Health and coordinated actions of the President's team, the Government and the public, we have managed to increase the capacities of Ukrainian healthcare sector that was being deliberately ruined since the beginning of indepence. We are once again convinced of the high level of professionalism of our doctors, who have demonstrated their readiness to help patients even in critical situations. Now the next stage of the fight against the pandemic begins - large-scale vaccination of Ukrainians from COVID-19. I assure you that this stage will show off the highest level of preparedness", the Minister of Health Maxym Stepanov emphasized.
Ukrainians will be able to ask questions to the speakers of the Forum on the website and pages of the event on social networks.
The Forum will be held in compliance with all quarantine regulations.
