    posted 21 February 2018 15:02

The decision approved by the Government, which stipulates increase of pensions for military retirees, is unquestionable and should be enshrined in law that is being elaborated by the Cabinet of Ministers and is a matter of discussion with all stakeholders. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on air of TV channel 112.UA.

According to him, the draft law will become the basis for social protection of those servicemen who now serve in the Armed Forces and will retire later.

"Ukraine needs a new pension law for servicemen. In November last year, we commenced the discussion of the document with all persons concerned, but the process was delayed, and took more time. However, people do not have to wait. I personally promised that pensions would be raised from January 1, thereby taking into account that this process (discussion of the bill) may be stalled, the Government has approved this decision. The average size of the increase will make up a sum worth 1500 hryvnias. The consideration of the bill will be kicked off simultaneously. I would like to adopt a comprehensive decision that will encapsulate social security for servicemen who are today protecting Ukraine," the Head of Government underlined.

Apart from that, the Prime Minister informed that accruals of pension taking into account January and February will start shortly.
