The Cabinet of
Ministers of Ukraine approved a decision on upgrading
pensions for military retirees from January 1 by UAH 1500. Prime Minister of Ukraine
Volodymyr Groysman presented the said
decision during the
Government sitting and stressed the
initiative does not
require amendments to the current
legislation and it will be
in force until the elaboration
and adoption of the relevant
bill, which is being discussed
today on different platforms.
"We commenced
a discussion of pensions for servicemen
in the fall.
This draft law, which envisages
a fair pension system for the
military, is extremely important. I promised to raise
retirement payments from January 1, and I remember that. But the
draft is still being discussed,
thus this process can last
for a month and two. I remember
what I promised, today we are
taking a decision on raising pensions
for servicemen on average to
the tune of UAH 1500. Accruals of pension will
start from today", the Head of Government
stressed.
Volodymyr Groysman stressed
the decision was shaped
in synergy with the experts
of the Ministry
of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine,
Ministry of Social Policy of
Ukraine and Ministry of Finance
of Ukraine and called on
all stakeholders to embark on
elaborating of a new draft law
that will restore social justice for servicemen.
