  • Prime Minister: Gov't endorsed a decision on increasing pensions for retired military personnel

    The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a decision on upgrading pensions for military retirees from January 1 by UAH 1500. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman presented the said decision during the Government sitting and stressed the initiative does not require amendments to the current legislation and it will be in force until the elaboration and adoption of the relevant bill, which is being discussed today on different platforms.

    "We commenced a discussion of pensions for servicemen in the fall. This draft law, which envisages a fair pension system for the military, is extremely important. I promised to raise retirement payments from January 1, and I remember that. But the draft is still being discussed, thus this process can last for a month and two. I remember what I promised, today we are taking a decision on raising pensions for servicemen on average to the tune of UAH 1500. Accruals of pension will start from today", the Head of Government stressed.

    Volodymyr Groysman stressed the decision was shaped in synergy with the experts of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and called on all stakeholders to embark on elaborating of a new draft law that will restore social justice for servicemen.
