Representatives of the World Bank are
poised to provide the Ministry of Education
and Science of Ukraine with
expert assistance in conducting government
procurement of electronic devices, textbooks, as well
as printed literature, and on other issues
pertaining to the launch of
the educational online platform. The relevant agreements
were reached during a meeting between Minister of Education and
Science of Ukraine Lilia Hrynevych
and representatives of the World
Bank Group on education projects
during the Minister's working visit to Washington.
"We have
no experience of launching platforms
similar to our new national
educational platform project. The assistance
is of paramount
importance for us in order
to develop and implement an
efficient policy on software, digital
education resources, broad Internet access, data centers as
well as to
organize transparent and efficient procurement",
the Minister stressed.
In the short
term, the experts of the
World Bank are planning to
come to Ukraine
to continue the necessary consultations
with the Ministry of Education
and Science. The experts are
also stand ready to support
the Ukrainian side in the
introduction of digital education as well as
to provide assistance aimed to identify the
main priorities that need to
be worked out so that
the project for the implementation
of the educational
online platform be successful.
The issue concerning
increase in funding was also
resolved. The parties agreed to thoroughly consider
this question with the World
Bank Country Director for Belarus,
Moldova, and Ukraine, after the possibility of increasing financial
support for the next fiscal
year will be considered.
