  • Experts from Czech Republic and Slovakia to be engaged in implementation of the Law on the Electricity Market

    Representatives of the regulator and market operator of Slovakia as well as experts from the Czech Republic involved in pursuing of the energy reform in Europe will be engaged in the work of the Coordination Center for ensuring the introduction of a new electricity market, which was created by the Government resolution.

    During this year European consultants will work in thematic subgroups of the Coordination Center, will help, in particular, in the elaboration of new rules of work of the wholesale and retail electricity market, the technical software of the system operator and the market operator.

    Apart from that, experts will provide consultancy support to issues concerning the regulatory framework developed by the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (hereinafter - NKREKP) and Central Executive Authorities and give market participants and the public several training programs.

    It is noteworthy to mention that the Law of Ukraine on the Electricity Market was adopted in April, 2017. The implementation period is 2 years. NKREKP has a pivotal role in this process. The Commission has to shape and adopt 80 % of the necessary documents, 20% encapsulate the tasks for SE Ukrenergo, Energorynok ("Energy Market") enterprise and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.

    The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion is the Head of the Coordination Center for ensuring the introduction of a new electricity market, Co-Chairman is Oleksandr Dombrovskyi, the First Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety. The Deputy Heads are Dmytro Vovk, the Head of the NKRECP, and Ihor Nasalyk, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.
