Ukraine, in the mutual cooperation with Italy, begins to prepare technical and economic documentation for the introduction of the high-speed rail link in Ukraine. It was announced during the meeting with Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, and President of the company Italferr Ricardo Maria Monti, as well as representatives of the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Ukraine. The meeting took place on January 30, 2018, in the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Omelyan emphasized that the establishment of high-speed railway traffic in Ukraine is a huge infrastructure scheme of state importance: "This is a huge project, the implementation of which will not only change the railway sector but will also positively affect the economic situation of different regions, significantly increase the capacity of existing production fields and launching new ones. Today, along with Italian partners, we are taking the first step on this path."

"I am glad that we can start this process with the support of the Italferr company, which belongs to the State Railroad Group and has experience in this particular sector for more than 30 years. We attract "Italferr" to the development of a feasibility study for the euro-zone, connecting Odessa-Kyiv-Lviv. The company's achievements are significant infrastructural projects for the conventional and high-speed rail sector, both in Italy and in other countries. And it is very important that we start the change in Ukraine with the support of the leading European company", added the Head of the Ministry.
