Minister
of Defence of Ukraine General of the Army of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak has participated
in the Seminar at the George C. Marshall European Centre for Security
Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the framework of his official visit
to Germany.
Gen. Poltorak delivered an address to the first
session on threats and challenges of the defence reform
in Ukraine.
“I would
like to underscore the coordinated activities of all national
authorities of Ukraine in the issues related to the defence
reform”, the Minister said, adding the Ministry feels the support and
understanding which is viewed as one of the most crucial factor when the
defence ministry sees a transformation process in the context
of combat operations. “And it’s challenging, and rather demanding. The
effectiveness of reforms is being tested by us in eastern
Ukraine and I mean planning, logistic, and manning tasks. Despite of challenges,
we have certain progress”.
The
Minister of Defence briefed the audience on the reforms progress, as well
as about transformation management unit formed in Ukraine.
Ukraine is a priority country for the US and Europe, stressed Director

“We have achieved progress since we started our cooperation. We should find the best understanding between the military and civilians,
between public society and defenders. You are reforming
your ministry during hostilities and our duty
is to provide any
advisory support, which will be helpful
in your reforms”, Director Dayton underlined.
