  • Ukraine and Lithuania to share best practices in oil and gas, electricity and nuclear spheres

    Following the tenth meeting of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania on strategic cooperation in the field of energy was signed in the presence of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė. The purpose of the abovesaid document is to establish an effective platform for cooperation in oil and gas, electricity and nuclear spheres, taking into account energy efficiency and energy saving tasks.

    The cooperation will be carried out through the exchange of experience in the development of gas markets of Ukraine and Lithuania, the decommissioning and dismantling of nuclear power plants, renewable energy sources, including clean energy projects.

    The parties will also collaborate in energy efficiency and energy saving technologies, in the issues of the creation of the electricity market and the system of transmission of synchronous connection with continental Europe, inter alia through institutional cooperation within the functioning of the relevant working group.
