  • Minister of Infrastructure: Ukraine and Belarus will develop navigation on the Dnipro and Pripyat rivers

    Ukraine and Belarus agreed on the development of navigation on the Dnipro and Pripyat rivers. This was announced by Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan on the results of the meeting with Anatoly Sivak, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus. The said meeting was held on December 5, in Kyiv with the participation of the representatives of the European Investment Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine.

    The Minister of Infrastructure stressed that the Ukrainian and Belarusian parties are placing special emphasis on the development of transport communications between the two countries, inter alia, the work on improvement of navigation on the common waterways is being intensified and boosted.

    The Minister of Infrastructure thanked his counterpart for the constructive and fruitful work on the coordination of the Roadmap, which was signed during the Ministerial meeting.

    The implementation of the Roadmap requires financial resources that are planned to be disbursed from international donors.

    The sides noted the positive dynamics of growth of motor transport and confirmed the interest in further increase of cargo turnover between the countries, and also discussed other issues in the field of transport.
