Government submits a bill on prevention pressure on business to the Parliament for consideration

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a final version of the draft law on amendments to certain legislative acts to prevent pressure by law enforcement and controlling agencies on entrepreneurs and to prohibit excessive and uncontrolled recourse to force in the process of investigation. The document has been registered in Parliament.

Commenting on the need to adopt the document, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stressed that attacks by security forces on enterprises had become one of the key problems, and business community uttered numerous complains in this matter.

"I believe that it is vital to make everyone equal by law. Hence, this document will not allow anyone to pursue unlawful actions against entrepreneurs," said Volodymyr Groysman.

Background

In September of this year, in Kyiv there took place a large meeting with the participation of the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister, MPs and the leadership of the General Prosecutor's Office. One of the initiatives proclaimed during the meeting was The Stop Masks Show initiative established to put an end to any manifestations of pressure by law enforcement agencies on entrepreneurs. Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman urges the pressure on honest businessmen abiding by laws, paying taxes, producing product and providing jobs is unacceptable.
