Cooperation with the UNDP will help to ensure the sustainable development of Ukraine's energy sector
The meeting with
representatives of the United Nations
Development Programme
(UNDP) took place in the premises
of the Ministry
of Energy and Coal Industry
of Ukraine. Deputy Minister of Energy and
Coal Industry of Ukraine on
European Integration Natalia Boyko held
the said meeting. The interlocutors
touched upon key issues of
deepening cooperation with the UNDP in the field
of energy, implementation of the Agenda 2030 and the achievement
of the goals
of sustainable development.
The Deputy Minister
singled out the main goals
of the Energy
Strategy of Ukraine until 2035 "Security, Energy Efficiency, Competitiveness"
and briefed attendees on the
ongoing reforms, which resulted in the country’s
striving for sustainable energy development.
In turn, Rastislav
Vrbensky the Deputy Director of UNDP in Europe
and the CIS informed on the
new United Nations Development Programme Strategic Plan for 2018-2021, which reflects the vision of
UNDP development over the next four
years and expressed interest in intensifying cooperation between the parties.
On the outcomes
of the meeting,
agreements were reached on working out possible ways of cooperation
within the framework of the
implementation of the Energy Strategy
of Ukraine until 2035 in terms
of sustainable energy development.
