Representatives of Ukraine’s MoD hold talks with international audit experts
The Ukraine’s Ministry
of Defence hosted a meeting of the representatives
of the defence
ministry (First Deputy Minister of Defence of
Ukraine Ivan Rusnak, Director of Internal Audit
and Financial Control Department of the Ministry
of Defence of Ukraine Maryna
Barynina, and representatives of the department) and international audit experts.
Phil Jones, UK Special
Defence Adviser, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence and
General Staff, and John Chesshyr,
CEO JC Audit Training LTD, represented the foreign delegation.
The parties defined
further practical activities related to improvement of internal audit
on the basis
of recommendations of external evaluation
of internal audit of the
Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
Mr Rusnak said
that in 2017 more than 100 MoD
and Armed Forces specialists had undergone training
under international standards.
“The United
Kingdom is our reliable partner
providing assistance in reforms of
the defence ministry under NATO standards, especially, in audit. Seminars
on internal audit and corruption
prevention organized thanks to professional
development program permitted to train
146 Department experts to work under
NATO standards,” Mr Rusnak informed.
First Deputy Minister
of Defence of Ukraine also
remarked that recommendations of foreign experts had been implemented
and partially realized, partially used and partially
waited for Defence Minister approval.
According to Phil
Jones, UK Special Defence Adviser, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence and
General Staff, the Ukrainian defence
ministry was the first state
ministry having external evaluation of internal audit.
