  • Ukraine and Qatar are ready to intensify cooperation

    On October 4-th, 2017 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Pavlo Klimkin paid a working visit to the State of Qatar.

    During the visit to Doha, H.E. Mr. Pavlo Klimkin met with the Prime-Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mr. Sultan Al-Mreikhi.

    During the meeting, the importance of maintaining regular political dialogue between the two states was underlined. It was also emphasized on the mutual interest to intensify trade, economic and investment cooperation as well as to deepen the existing potential of interaction in agricultural and energy spheres.

    In addition, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine thanked the Emir for the consistent position of his country, as well as for the support of Qatar for the international Initiatives of Ukraine aimed at protecting sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of our state.

    During his stay in Doha Mr. Pavlo Klimkin also met with the member of the ruling family of Qatar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatari construction and development company “Aamal”, Deputy Chairman of the Board of “Faysal Holding” Sheikh Mohammed Bin Faisal bin Qasmem Al Thani, with whom the prospects of attracting Qatar private capital to invest in such sectors of the Ukrainian economy as real estate, medical and recreational tourism, hotel business were discussed.

    Ukrainian Minister gave an interview to the leading media outlets of Qatar, in which he highlighted the main priorities of the Ukrainian-Qatari relations, with an emphasis on the importance of expanding legal and contractual framework of bilateral relations through a speedy conclusion of a number of ready-to-sign intergovernmental agreements of commercial and economic nature.
