The Cabinet of
Ministers of Ukraine approved the financial plan of SE Ukrzaliznytsya for 2017
that does not contain any norms stipulating for an increase of tariffs for
passenger transportation. The decision was made during the Government sitting
on September 13.
Commenting on the
endorsed decision, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stressed:
"We support the elaboration of the Ukrzaliznytsia development strategy but
there could be no question about rising prices for passenger conveyance",
the Head of Government said.
He stressed that Ukrzaliznytsia needs a major upgrade. But this process should take place simultaneously with rooting out all corruption schemes that had entwined the company for years. It is also important to maintain full coordination in tariff formation for freight traffic. Moreover, Volodymyr Groysman emphasized that the tariff policy should be as transparent and understandable as possible.
