The Cabinet of
Ministers of Ukraine approved the concept of the State Farming Development Program of Ukraine, submitted by the Ministry of
Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. This is a key initiative of the line
Ministry and the Government, aimed to promote the activity of small and
medium-sized businesses in the countryside, the creation of new jobs and the development
of rural areas.
While presenting benchmarks
of the program, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Maxym
Martyniuk noted that the potential of the farmers'
movement in Ukraine is extraordinary. On conditions of raising the efficiency
of farms, the state may additionally receive up to 1.5 million tons of crop.
And the implementation of the program provisions will allow in a 3-years’
period a fivefold increase in the number of workplaces in rural areas, a 10%
renewal of agricultural machinery annually, first of all due to the use of
domestic production technology, expanding the area of lands for organic
crops and growing the number
of livestock farms.
The support tools are offered to divide into
two groups - financial and land. At that, into the financial tools should fall
cheaper loans, agricultural insurance, as well as the introduction of subsidies
for new farms.
The program's coordinator, at the suggestion
of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, is appointed Deputy
Minister for Farming Development.
Commenting on the presented initiatives, Head
of Government Volodymyr Groysman said: "Growth record is rather good. Our goal
is to make the most of this resource. And I, as the Prime Minister, guarantee
full support for farming. There is an action program, funds are also available
- we will provide UAH 1 billion. I want us to show success in the next year."
