European Commission will support financially the establishment of Energy Efficiency Fund - telephone conversation of PM with Vice-President of the European Commission
Prime Minister of
Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held a telephone conversation with Vice-President of the European Commission
Maroš Šefčovič.
The interlocutors discussed the creation
of the Energy
Efficiency Fund and some aspects
of providing financial assistance for Ukrainian reforms.
The Head of
Government recalled that in June
the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
adopted three bills, which address
energy resources accounting, introduction of mechanisms and
technologies for economy and efficient
use of energy,
and also directly relate to the functioning of the Energy
Efficiency Fund. In September, articles
of association of the Fund
and the provisions
of its Supervisory
Board are expected to be
approved. Members of the Supervisory
Board will be selected in
a separate competition, to which, on
the proposal of Volodymyr Groysman,
representatives of the EU and international
financial organizations will be engaged.
"We highly
appreciate the previous decision of the European
Commission on allocation of 50 million euros
to support the establishment of the Energy
Efficiency Fund and we count on the completion of all
negotiation formalities by the end
of the year.
I can assure that the Government
will continue reforms in the
field of energy efficiency, so that next
year we could
receive additional financial aid of
the EU to the tune of
50 million euros», stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
He also expressed
gratitude to the other actors,
namely the Government of Germany,
the International Finance Corporation and the World
Bank in the
financing of the Energy Efficiency
Fund.
