The State Border
Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) should spare no
efforts to ensure the security
of the state
border, an effective fight against smuggling and high-quality service for citizens and the
Government, for its part, is
committed to provide maximum support in order
to achieve the said goals.
This statement was issued by
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr
Groysman in the course of
the meeting with the newly
appointed Head of the State
Border Guard Service of Ukraine
Petro Tsyhykal and Viktor Nazarenko,
advisor to the President of
Ukraine, former head of the
SBGS.
«The strong border
security, an effective fight
against smuggling are overriding priorities for the Government - because we have
to produce competitive products and it is
impossible to do it without
an effective border control as well as
without a high-quality service. It is
of critical importance that our citizens, especially
after the introduction of a visa-free regime with
the EU, could normally cross the state border»,
Volodymyr Groysman claimed.
He recalled that
the launched "New Face of
the Border" project, which envisages the reform
of the border guard units and
the recruitment of new employees
will enable the country to
enhance the quality of service
delivery at the border. "I would very much
like the" New Face of
the Border "program to be
developed in the future in order to
ensure that both guests of
the country and Ukrainian citizens
feel respect and normal attitude
from the Border Guard Service,"
the Prime Minister urged.
In a separate statement
Volodymyr Groysman noted the Cabinet
of Ministers of Ukraine will back positive changes
in the work
of the border
guards by means of technical
re-equipment of border crossing points, increasing budget funding of the SBGS as well as through
the implementation of related projects,
in particular the construction of roads and
infrastructure at the borders.
