Decisions on pension, educational and medical reforms to be taken in September, assures Volodymyr Groysman
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in synergy with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ought
to take final decisions in September, which will enable the country to launch a
large-scale implementation of three key reforms initiated by the Government,
namely, educational, medical and pension reforms. This was announced by Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman
on air of TV channel "112.UA".
He recalled that it had been possible to make radical transformations due
to the work of the previous and current Governments that managed to restore
economic growth, to raise minimum wages, to kick off a large-scale construction
of roads, to change the procurement system, to develop a number of industrial
development programs and to put into practice the reform of the civil service.
«We need to bring the process of implementation of three reforms
(educational, pension and medical) to a logical conclusion, thus the support of
the Parliament is of critical importance. I am ready to be personally
responsible for the practical implementation (reforms)»,
stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
The Head of Government thanked MPS for the unanimous vote as basis of
the bill on pension reform, which stipulates for an increase of pensions. «This
is a victory of common sense over populism. Currently, the deficit of the
(pension) system is 5.5 billion dollars, while 80% of retirees live below the
poverty line. So my task is to ensure a decent standard of living for those
people», emphasized the Prime Minister.
Volodymyr Groysman
reminded that a package of draft bills on pension reform allows to raise
systematically retirement payments to 9 million pensioners from 1 October, with
further automatic updating and, moreover to increase pensions for military
serviceman. «We reinstate a respect for working persons. I urge lawmakers to
uphold decisions in September», underlined the Prime Minister.
