The issue of energy security is under permanent control of the Government every day. Our vital task is to ensure that Ukraine will stockpile enough energy resources, to this end on a day-to-day basis we are committed to put in a lot of work on planning and forecasting the situation in the united energy system. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion in the course of the meeting with line ministries, authorities and leadership of the power generating companies.

According to the Vice Prime Minister, it is crucial to accumulate not less than 1.8. million tons of Grade A coal as well as to provide 2-2.2 million tons of Grade G coal as minimal amount.

In this context, Volodymyr Kistion stressed the volume of accumulated coal should be enough to ensure smooth passage of the heating season and added that by mid-April 2017 the country had about 1.5 million tons of stockpile of all grades of coal.

The Vice Prime Minister emphasized that as soon as a sufficient volume of Grade A coal is accumulated, thus there will be a confidence in the stable passage of the winter period, the need for extraordinary measures in the energy sector will disappear.
