Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, posted 23 October 2020 13:37

On October 25, 2020, at 4:00 Kyiv time, the clock hand will be moved backward 1 (one) hour. The transition to winter and summer time takes place in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 509 of 13.05.1996 "On the procedure for calculating time on the territory of Ukraine".

A similar procedure for calculating time is in effect in the EU on the basis of Directive 2000/84 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19.01.2001 on daylight saving time.

At the same time, the European Commission has proposed to consider the possibility of scrapping the DST twice a year. Each EU country must decide by April 2021 what time it will stay in: summer or winter.

The Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture monitors the initiatives of the European Commission regarding the seasonal clock changes. In case that a decision is made at the legislative level in the EU to abandon the practice of the transfer to winter/summer time and in order to harmonize our legislation with the EU, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will be offered to consider appropriate changes in Ukrainian law.
