The Government at its meeting on Thursday has prolonged extraordinary measures on the electricity market for one month which were implemented in the framework of the regime of saving resources due to the economic and energy blockade which was imposed in January of this year. The decision was adopted at the proposal of Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman.

«The measures should be prolonged, we ought to take operative decisions», noted Volodymyr Groysman. - We will overcome these difficulties, no matter who creates obstacles for us»

While discussing the said issue, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Ihor Nasalyk stressed that emergency measures have been continued for a third month, however such actions have provided an opportunity to accumulate the necessary supply of coal in storage and to increase the share of nuclear energy in the overall energy balance of the country. According to him, coal reserves amount to 2.2 million tons and equal to storage at the beginning of the autumn-winter period. The part of nuclear energy in the power balance is 62%, whereas in May, 2016 the figure was 47%. The Minister drew attention to the fact that these measures had resulted in saving of 1.7 million tons of coal.
