Prime Minister during a meeting with U.S. congressmen: We are grateful for the support and willing to deepen cooperation

The Government of Ukraine expresses gratitude to the leadership of the United States of America for the extensive support of Ukraine, including in the process of carrying out economic reforms, strengthening the Ukrainian army, countering Russian aggression and restoring territorial integrity, and is committed to deepen bilateral cooperation. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during a meeting with delegation of the Congress of the United States of America led by Chairman of Homeland Security Committee of the House of Representatives Michael McCall.

"The development of bilateral cooperation with the United States of America is extremely important to our country. The United States is our strategic partner that plays an extremely important role in the formation of our statehood and independence", said Volodymyr Groysman.

He informed the interlocutors on the priorities of work of the Government of Ukraine to ensure sustainable economic growth and necessary transformation in the social sphere, further cooperation with the IMF, the introduction of the electronic public procurement system, progress in deregulation, the formation of anti-corruption infrastructure and judicial reform. Volodymyr Groysman reminded of the 5 key objectives the Government has set up for the current year, namely, the land and pension reforms, wide-ranging privatization and reforms of healthcare and education sectors.

"Our government team is willing to continue its efforts to bring about change in Ukraine", stressed the Prime Minister.

In turn, Chairman of Homeland Security Committee of the House of Representatives Michael McCall said that the United States commend Ukraine's success in these difficult times, and therefore consider a possibility to extend financial support for Ukraine for 2018.

During the conversation the parties also touched upon the issue of deterring Russian aggression, the situation in Donbas and agreed on the need to develop synergy to counter cyber attacks and to maintain the sanctions regime against the Russian Federation, not until the aggression against Ukraine is terminated.

"On behalf of the United States of America I want to assure of strong support for Ukraine in this struggle. It isn’t just the struggle for one country but for freedom. What is happening in Ukraine affects the entire world. You have our full support”, assured Congressman Michael McCall.
