PM at the meeting with Foreign Ministers of Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary: Gov't demonstrates a substantial progress concerning combatting and preventing corruption
All decisive measures implemented by the Government are aimed to
establish a transparent system which will eradicate and prevent corruption.
Ukraine is demonstrating a significant progress concerning combatting and
preventing corruption. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr
Groysman during a meeting with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the
Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák,
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter
Szijjártó and Minister of Foreign
Affairs of the Czech Republic Lubomír Zaorálek on Tuesday.
While briefing interlocutors about undertaken measures regarding the
fight against corruption, Volodymyr Groysman emphasized that “during 2015-2016
Ukraine had elaborated one of the best and strict legislations in terms of
prevention and fight against corruption. We had established several
institutional modifications in the name of combating corruption: the
Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, the National Anti-Corruption
Bureau and he National Agency on the Prevention of Corruption, stressed the
Prime Minister. These institutional changes introduced in Ukraine are crucial
steps to ensure efficient fight against corruption.”
The judicial reform which was launched last year is an important tool in
combatting corruption. “This reform will take several years, and it's vitally
important to return the people's confidence to justice, judicial system, as
well as to judges”, assured the Head of Government.
Speaking about other measures undertaken in this sector, the Prime
Minister cited as an example inter alia an e-asset declaration system, the
change of public procurement system and the deregulation of gas prices. The
single electronic register of VAT refund which has been triggered on April 1
was a revolutionary measure towards reducing corruption in this sphere.
A large-scale privatization of inefficient state-owned enterprises
planned by the Government in 2017 will be a bold step towards eradication of
the corruption, urged Volodymyr Groysman.
“All our steps are imbued to create transparent systems as well as systems which are not
entwined with corruption” stressed Volodymyr Groysman. - The process (fight
against corruption) and is going quite promptly. We are achieving tangible
results in the fight against corruption.
