Government will shortly introduce a proposal to trigger a large-scale privatization and urges Parliament to support it, says Prime Minister
The Government plans to submit to the Parliament a proposal to launch a
large-scale privatization of inefficient state-owned enterprises and calls on
MPs to support this initiative which will allow to leverage investment and to
ensure sustainable economic growth. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine
Volodymyr Groysman during A
Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
“We have to elaborate amendments to the legislative acts in the sphere
of privatization, thereby ensuring competitiveness of privatization. We will
shortly introduce this proposal to the Ukrainian Parliament and want to
consolidate our joint efforts in order to elaborate a draft law which will enable
us to attract investment in the economy of the country and to ensure the
sustainable economic growth», stressed the Prime Minister.
The state of affairs in the sphere of public and competitive sale of
state companies has proven its inefficiency as well as has been a source of
corruption and is required a special attention of the Verkhovna
Rada of Ukraine.
In this context, the Head of Government stressed that he is not
satisfied with the work of the State Property Fund of Ukraine. "I think
last year they managed to do nothing in order to launch effectively the
privatization process in the country, the sale of state property which is not
efficiently being managed by the state authorities and which is a source of
corruption, including appointees to these enterprises", underlined the
Prime Minister.
