On March 14, on behalf of the Government, First
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine/ Minister of Economic
Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv
signed a series of agreements with the Government of the United States aimed to
support measures directed to sustainable economic development and improving
transparency of governance in Ukraine.
Signing of the two documents targets increasing
volumes of international technical assistance from the Government of the United
States to the tune of USD 54 million. Thus, under the terms
of the aforesaid Agreements the sum of the assistance will total USD 123
million.
The First Vice Prime Minister thanked the US Government
for the unwavering support for Ukraine as well as for significant contribution
to economic and social development of Ukraine during 25 years.
“The assistance is also of paramount importance as it is aimed at
supporting topical reforms undertaken by Ukraine, in particular: the enhancing
fiscal transparency in the energy sector, the functioning of an independent and
transparent justice; transparency and accountability of the public governance and
services; the development of agricultural production", underlined Stepan Kubiv.
In her turn
“Cooperation with Ukraine includes not just the financial aspect, as it is the proof of the willingness to cooperate to support democracy, sustainable development of Ukraine, which are based on fundamental European values. The additional technical assistance will help Ukraine to implement important steps towards the prosperity of Ukraine that it deserves”, stressed
a peculiar role of Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman as well as Stepan Kubiv and the Ministry of Economic Development of Ukraine in
building solid international partnership to prolong topmost reforms in the
Ukrainian economy.
USAID Regional Mission Director to Ukraine Susan Fritz and USAID Acting
Assistant Administrator Margot Ellis attended the signing ceremony.
