The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at its session on Friday, endorsed a resolution "On approval of the Procedure and conditions for the provision of a subvention from the state budget to local budgets for reimbursement of the cost of medicines for treatment of certain diseases" to ensure introduction of a mechanism of reimbursement for drugs to cure cardiovascular diseases, diabetes type II and bronchial asthma.

Pursuant to the approved decision, the sum worth UAH 500 million will be granted to the regions to trigger the program for free medicine for three categories of diseases in each region, said Volodymyr Groysman.

According to the acting Minister of Health of Ukraine Uliana Suprun while introducing the draft resolution, the distribution of subventions will be made on the basis of statistical data on the number of persons suffering from aforesaid chronic ailments.

At the next Cabinet’s meeting there will be submitted the whole necessary package of documents to ensure launch of the programme for compensation of costs starting April 1, said the Prime Minister.

"We begin the process of making decisions to finance free drugs provision", emphasized the Prime Minister.
