We will urge
the Parliament to devote any session day to considering a package of draft
bills on energy efficiency. On Tuesday during the plenary week we are planning
to summon meetings of the Committee on Construction, Urban Development, Housing
and Communal Services and the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear
Policy and Nuclear Safety to finally coordinate all points of the bills, stated
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine/Minister of Regional Development, Building,
Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko in an interview with the Hromadske
Radio.
“We have determined
April 1 as an approximate date for the launch of the Energy Efficiency Fund.
Today we expect the Parliament to adopt relevant legislative package which will
enable the establishment of the Energy Efficiency Fund. It includes not just the
draft law "On Energy Efficiency Fund", but also the bill "About
Energy Efficiency of Buildings", the draft law "On Commercial
Accounting of Utility Services” and draft law "On Housing and Communal
Services”, said Vice Prime Minister.
According
to him, in the next week a representative of the European Union Katharina Maternova is scheduled to visit Ukraine. It’s noteworthy
she provides assistance to Ukraine in preparation and introduction of the Energy
Efficiency Fund.
“I think
there will be another meeting with MPs to discuss the need for the adoption of
these laws. There is a huge number of MPs waiting for these bills to be
approved. So, on Monday we are to determine the day for considering extremely important
laws for the country”, underlined Hennadii Zubko.
Vice Prime
Minister assures the adoption of these bills will provide a basis for Ukraine to
implement activities undertaken in European countries, which proved
effectiveness.
“We have
all chances to achieve energy independence through energy efficiency tools, but
not only by growing volumes of production of Ukrainian gas”, urged Hennadii Zubko.
