Prime Minister: Due to financial decentralization the number of chronically subsidized budgets reduced by almost 25%
As a result of
financial decentralization, the number of chronically Government subsidized budgets
reduced by 25%, and further reduction is observed, Prime Minister of Ukraine
Volodymyr Groysman announced during the conference "From creating
Consolidated Communities towards sustainable growth".
"The number of
budgets that used to be chronically subsidized has cut by almost 25%. Due to
these changes we achieved the growth of local budgets annually by 50% in 2015
and 2016, and in 2017 we anticipate growth by 25% more. This means that they
have their local resource to invest in the quality of people’s lives", said
the Head of Government.
He noted that earlier
96% of the Ukrainian local governments' budgets had been granted subventions on
constant basis, adding there were incapable to provide appropriate services.
The
reduction of subsidization of local budgets, in particular, is the result of
financial decentralization, summed up the Prime Minister.
