Vice Prime Minister: Ukraine will benefit from experience of regional development of mountain areas of Austria
Practices of Austria
on regional development in mountain areas are considered useful and interesting
to be introduced in Lviv, Chernivtsi
and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Expertise and tools
elaborated by Austrian colleagues will be most valuable for strengthening local
governance, the creation of hospital districts, formal
education development in the mountain region of Ukraine. This was stated by
Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing
and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko
during his meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria
in Ukraine Ms. Hermine Poppeller.
The Vice Prime
Minister said that the existing approaches to the formation of consolidated
territorial communities, providing social, educational and medical services in
mountain areas require serious improvement. "Earlier we were working with
these areas with the help of subventions from the state budget. But financial
support had not produced tangible results. Therefore, for us it is important to
get professional help of experts from Austria, who have experience in building
effective local governance in such areas", stressed Hennadii
Zubko.
